The opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) in the Volta region says it will continue to demonstrate against the Electoral Commission (EC) to express its dissatisfaction with the results of the 2020 general elections.

According to the party, the EC wrongly declared Nana Akufo-Addo as president-elect despite evidence to the contrary and in favor of the party’s John Mahama.

During a rally in Sogakope on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, NDC Second Vice President George Loh said the party will not rest on its oars until its concerns are addressed.

“We are demonstrating to express our unwillingness to accept the results of the elections. We believe the demonstrations have been effective so far and we will press our concerns until the right thing is done. ”

Mr. Loh further said that the NDC expects the courts to be fair and do justice when the party files an official request.

“Most people believe that NDC will get justice due to recent history, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. But we will not give up on the court and therefore we will go ahead in search of justice ”.

Meanwhile, in Accra, the Regional Police Command has achieved a restriction order against the NDC, prohibiting it from launching new protests and demonstrations in Accra.

In response to this, a member of the opposition party’s legal team, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, said that the party Can’t be denied your right to protest.
