“We know we have had problems with the results,” Arteta said. Amazon prime. “The fact that we won against Chelsea was a huge boost. Coming here and getting another win was hugely important.
“I am proud of the boys and happy with the result. Lacazette is in a good moment. He is full of confidence. We wanted to change the team in the second half and give him some freshness.”
“We weren’t threatening in certain areas. In the second half we seemed much more confident and we were playing later.
“The best medicine is the one that wins. It’s a different world and a different story. The picture looks much better.”
With 2020 coming to a close, Arteta is reflecting on a tumultuous first full calendar year in charge at the Emirates Stadium.
His early successes and his FA Cup victory are distant memories now, but looking into the new year, the Spaniard is hopeful for more positive times ahead.
“For any manager it is [been] Quite difficult considering the context, it has been quite a challenge. I have suffered at times but I have great people around me. “
While Arsenal moved away from the bottom three, Brighton’s defeat left the Seagulls just two points from the drop zone.
“If you don’t score and they do, then that’s the way it is,” manager Graham Potter said.
“Our work rate was very, very good. We fell short and we didn’t get away with anything. We are suffering at the moment. At the level we are playing at, the opponents have qualities and can score in an opportunity.
“We feel like we have always performed well. We have been in the games. In this league you suffer, but you have to stick together.
“There are no easy games in this league. Nothing changes from our perspective. Every game is a fight.”
