Chelsea legend John Terry criticized Andreas Christensen for his role in drawing Aston Villa at 1-1 draw on Monday night.

The Blues had taken the lead through Olivier Giroud before Aston Villa, where John Terry now works as an assistant manager, tied through Anwar El Ghazi in the second half.

Chelsea fans had called out that the goal should have been disallowed by a union involving Christensen and Jack Grealish in preparation.

After the match, Terry posted a video on Instagram saying it was great to be back at Stamford Bridge and praised ‘another great performance’ from his Aston Villa team, just 48 hours after a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Terry got a response to his post saying: ‘You’d be furious at that tie, John. The sporty side of this game is gone. ‘

The Aston Villa deputy manager responded to the comment simply, saying, “He (Christensen) should have gotten up.”

While Christensen remained on the ground, Grealish stood up and passed a ball to Matty Cash, who found El Ghazi at the back post for the equalizer.

The result could have been different if Christensen had returned to the area, as full-back César Azpilicueta was dragged onto the field by Grealish as Cash put in the cross, leaving El Ghazi unmarked.

Chelsea fans criticized the decision not to punish Grealish, but referee Mark Clattenburg said on Amazon’s coverage of the game that it was a ’50/50 challenge’ as Christensen had also caught Grealish with his leg.

Amazon experts Andy Townsend and Graeme Le Saux also agreed with Clattenberg.

Townsend, a former Villa player, said: ‘I wasn’t convinced, Grealish was in possession of the ball. Maybe I was over it a bit, but I don’t think it was a fault. I think both players throw a leg. ‘

Former Chelsea winger Le Saux also criticized Christensen when he said: “ I think Christensen left his leg behind because Grealish hit him and he’s trying to stop him a bit.

“ It has gone worse and I think that as a great central midfielder, you put yourself back in position, you wait for the ball to come out and then, if there is a problem, you solve it. You don’t stay on the court like that and then the goal is conceded.
