Ghana’s teenage U-20 prodigy Rahim Ibrahim has taken the big step of realizing his full potential by joining Slovak Trencin, Ghanasoccernet.com exclusively reveals.
The 19-year-old, considered the next big revelation in the country’s midfield, sealed his first move to Europe on Monday.
The midfielder, who has a similar style of play to Sulley Muntari, joins Trencin from Ghana’s ambitious First Division Accra Lions, where he proved his worth for two seasons.
Ibrahim was signed by the top European club without the need for a trial knowing the qualities of the player before signing him.
The powerful midfielder will join the Trencin first team and start training on Tuesday.
Ibrahim, who was part of the recent Ghana U-20 team, signed a three-year contract that will keep him in the European top flight until December 2023.
Trencin’s scouts have been monitoring players from the Abokobi-based team, known for grooming talented players in Ghana for the past few years.
His performances with the Ghanaian club forced Trencin to open negotiations two months ago to win the signing of the player who won five man of the match awards last season from midfield.
The midfielder is the latest player to be signed by Slovakia’s top flight from the Accra Lions, where his former player Osman Bukari played and swept the European country.
The exploits of Bukari, who has now moved to Belgian team Gent, has drawn more interest from various European clubs for the Accra Lions players.
In their brief stint in Ghana’s First Division soccer, the Accra Lions have made a big impact as several youngsters now make the club their preferred destination to hone their careers.
Ibrahim is expected to follow in Bukari’s footsteps at Trencin, where he will start training with the first team on Tuesday morning.
He is the latest Accra Lions player to move to Europe in recent times.
