Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah says he was surprised at the firing of coach Maxwell Konadu for his quick introduction of Sulley Muniru into competitive games.

Muniru, the younger brother of former AC Milan and Inter Star Sulley Muntari, immediately received his first matchday debut of the Ghana Premier League against Eleven Wonders despite joining the team three days earlier.

The CEO called the decision a mistake, believing that coach Maxwell Konadu should have taken the time to bring him into the team.

“I was surprised to see Muniru Sulley on the team bench, considering he was not fit to play in the league, he joined the team just 3 days before our match against Eleven Wonders,” he told Oyerepa Sports.

“As a coach, you have to facilitate the player’s entry into the game, just as Manchester United did with Edson Cavani, who was gradually introduced to the team,” he continued.

Coach Maxwell Konadu was fired after the loss at the Grand Olympics a fortnight ago.

The Porcupine Warriors have struggled to consolidate despite massive acquisitions in the transfer window and their chances of progressing in the CAF Champions League were also a major blow after a home loss to Al Hilal.
