A heated interview by GhOne Television journalist Serwaa Amihere with the Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has gotten social media talking.
In this lively interaction, the host, Serwaa, is heard questioning the NDC secretary general about the recent protests by NDC supporters across the country. With the reported cases of angry supporters burning tires in the streets and defying police orders, Serwaa tried to find out whether Asiedu Nketia actually sanctioned such protests.
Responding to her in a retaliatory tone, the Secretary General downplayed the question, rather asked the host if the burning of tires could be compared to the killing of innocent lives in the Techiman South constituency.
The video of this conversation was posted on Twitter by Celebrity Blogger, Ameyaw Debrah, and has since gone viral.
Meanwhile, the supreme head of the Techiman Traditional Area in the East Bono Region, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw, has condemned the shooting incident that killed two people in the area during the recently concluded elections. It observed that under no circumstances should innocent citizens be shot dead in the way that occurred in Techiman.
The election results declared by the official returning to the president, Jean Mensa, confirm that John Mahama was unable to obtain 50 votes plus one. The results show that John Mahama got 6,214,889 while Nana Addo got 6,730,413 votes.
The opposition NDC has fiercely rejected the election results. John Mahama has described it as flawed and manipulated. Party supporters have also protested at the Electoral Commission headquarters on several occasions against the results.
Political scientists from the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana argue that forming a parallel government is unconstitutional. Such acts can even trigger treason crimes.
The news director of the newspaper crusader guide says that the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections have been gazette. He believes it will only take a Supreme Court ruling to reverse the election results.
