‘Declan Rice updates on Fred and McTominay’
Former West Ham forward John Hartson says Hammers midfielder Declan Rice would be a good signing for Manchester United.
United have been linked to Rice in the past and Hartson believes he would be an improvement over current defensive midfielders Fred and Scott McTominay.
Here’s what Hartson told the Stadium Astro:
“West Ham will not want to lose one of its best players, probably the best, its greatest asset.
West Ham have aspirations to be in the top six, the top seven, I don’t know if they will do so well with Everton, but Arsenal staying on the road gives them a good run.
“I think Declan Rice would go anywhere in the Premier League and be an asset on that side.
“He’s an outstanding midfielder, he keeps the ball, he’s a great athlete, he’s confident in football and he’s brave on and off possession.
“He would be on the lips of many teams in January, he is a top-level midfielder and I rate him extremely well.
“He’s better than Fred, he’s better than McTominay. [Bruno] Fernandes is outstanding, he has been Manchester United’s best player for the last 12 months.
“We are not quite sure which [Paul] Pogba is going to show up, some weeks he’s great, others he doesn’t admire him.
“I think Rice would be a great signing for them and I think he makes the team. I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would love a Declan Rice. “
