Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stressed the need for Ghanaians to protect and maintain the peace of the country by loving each other as Jesus Christ loved the world.

He said that the teachings of Jesus Christ exhorted everyone to love one another, to be humble, and to harness ourselves to be used by God as an instrument of peace.

Addressing the joyous congregation of Victory Bible Church International, Dominion Sanctuary, Awoshie, in Accra, during the Christmas church service on Friday, the vice president said that it was necessary for all Ghanaians to prioritize the peace of the country over personal gratification.

“We must take advantage to be used by God as an instrument of peace. As a country, we have come a long way because we have had a peaceful coexistence with each other despite the diversity of tribes, religion, ethnicity, etc.

Even in our diversity, we have always been indivisible, and what we have in common is more than what divides us, “said Dr. Bawumia.

The Vice President further explained that it was mutual love backed by biblical love for our neighbors that had made Ghana the most peaceful nation in the West African subregion.

“It is a feat that we well deserve and have accomplished, and it should not be taken for granted because it is by the grace of God that we have peace in our country,” added Dr. Bawumia.

“Just two weeks ago, the peace of Ghana was put to the test once again as we attended the presidential and parliamentary elections and, by the grace of the Almighty, we have carried out this task peacefully.

The choice will always be those who won and those who lost, but the battle is always the Lord’s and Ghana’s victory, and we should be proud.

“It is not easy to lose an election, President Akufo-Addo and I have lost elections before and it was a painful moment.

We lost one in 2008 by just 40,000 votes, but we prioritized the peace and sanctity of our democracy and we agreed.

“I am very convinced that the Lord who gave us the will and power to prioritize national cohesion, peace and tranquility over personal gratification is capable of doing the same for us,” said the Vice President.

Dr. Bawumia commended the Presiding Bishop of Victory Bible Church, Bishop Nii Apiakai Tackie-Yarboi, for availing himself to be used by God for his purpose and saving many souls.

The vice president was convinced that Bishop Tackie-Yarboi’s prayers would go a long way toward ensuring peace and tranquility in the country.

“This is the first religious service I attend after the 2020 elections and it is not a coincidence that we are worshiping at Victory Bible Church, it is a victory for the Lord and Ghana.

“Thank you Bishop and the congregation for the warm reception you gave us, and I will return to this church to worship with you,” assured Dr. Bawumia.
