Mauricio Pochettino is about to return to management, and this is good news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Paris Saint-Germain bosses will meet the former Tottenham boss today and the 48-year-old will be appointed as their new manager after Thomas Tuchel was sacked.
Pochettino has long been linked to the takeover at Old Trafford, as Solskjaer has been under pressure at different points over the past two seasons. But things are looking up for the Norwegian and fans shared their relief at being able to put an end to the Pochettino rumors.
One supporter wrote: ‘Pochettino will NOT be @ManUtd for at least 5 months until @PSG_English is removed from the Champions League, bottled up the league and fired. Overrated coach, thank goodness the saga is over (for now). ‘
Another added: ‘I’m glad you found a job. European football needs a class act like Pochettino. Another reason for my happiness is the end of the stories that link him to my club. ‘
Pochettino led Tottenham to an unexpected Champions League final in 2019, but failed to win a trophy during his five years in North London.
Some United fans claimed the Argentine has been “over the top”, while others said they were happy to see him return to football, but away from Old Trafford.
One wrote: ‘Pochettino is an exaggerated train DONE! I’d rather gain absolutely nothing from Ole than employ Poch for more of the same! You are very serious.
Another fan said: ‘Pochettino to PSG. He is the only coach I would have wanted. So now I can lay that down on the bed and not think about what if.
However, some Red Devils fans believe that Pochettino would have been a perfect fit for the club.
“Pochettino was made for Manchester United, no matter what anyone else says,” wrote a disgruntled fan.
Another added: ‘Once again United have missed the bus.
“Sooner or later United will fight Ole, and they will have to stick with him, as then there will be no suitable candidate. We are going to regret this great moment. ‘
Tuchel led his team to the Champions League final in August and his dismissal came just hours after the 4-0 league win over Strasbourg.
While some fans were happy for the Pochettino rumors to end, others suggested that Tuchel should be the next man in line to replace Solskjaer if United opts for a dugout change.
“Our main candidate to replace Solskjaer, Pochettino, is about to join PSG,” said one fan.
“We must move quickly through Tuchel before he joins another team. It is much better than Solskjaer #MUFC ‘.
“Tuchel guided #PSG to a top spot in the CL group and just one point behind the league leaders this season,” wrote another.
“The problem was that the team was not playing well. In #MUFC we have a manager who eliminated us from CL and we lost 6-1 at home and the fans say give him time.
