Tamale Central Member of Parliament (MP) Alhaji Inusah Fuseini responded to the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) saying that telling John Dramani Mahama to form a parallel government does not amount to criminality or treason.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service extended an invitation to Alhaji Inusah Fuseini for questioning on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
In a letter addressed to the President of Parliament, the Director General of the CID, COP Isaac Ken Yeboah, stated that the police are investigating the case and will need Alhaji Inusah Fuseini to assist in the investigations into the matter.
The invitation from the Member of Parliament stems from some pronouncements on Pan-African Television that, “I have said and advocated that the standard bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama and the former president of the Republic of Ghana declare themselves president and form a parallel government. “
However, responding to the CID in an interview with Star FM in Accra monitored by MyNewsGH.com, the deputy from Tamale Central stated categorically that his statement does not constitute a violation of the country’s laws.
“I have not violated any provision of the penal code. And I’m waiting for someone to tell me what law I have broken, ”said Alhaji Inusah Fuseini.
“Clearly I have no doubt in my mind that what I said may be irresponsible or it may be absurd but it is not criminal,” and it was advice, and advice may or may not be followed. John Dramani Mahama did not follow my advice. So how can that be criminal? added.
An enraged former Minister of Roads and Highways described the CID’s invitation as an invasion of his rights to freedom of expression that aims to prevent people from expressing their opinions.
He also insisted that the CID was created to investigate crime and not opinion.
