The national president of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has discredited the claims of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that its candidate is the winner of the Techiman Sur seat.
Peter Mac Manu, speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, described the NDC projections as false.
He added that the making of the opposition party is only to mislead the general public and cause chaos in the country.
The PNP insisted that, according to its collation, its candidate, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, won the parliamentary seat with 477 votes.
“We spoke to set the record straight against a multitude of lies sold yesterday by the NDC.
“It is important to say in advance that the NPP parliamentary candidate for Techiman South won that election and so was declared by the EC,” he said.
In his presentation, he stated that for all the pink sheets available to the party, the NPP got 49,682 votes while the NDC got 49,205 votes.
The Campaign Director who presented the pink sheets of the electoral colleges to support the party’s figures insisted that the collation was made at the district collation center.
This is in stark contrast to the position of the minority who claimed that the teller was unable to compile the results and yet declared the PNP candidate the winner.
Along the same lines, the NDC during a press conference on Tuesday also mentioned that its parliamentary candidate, Christopher Beyere, won the Techiman Sur seat by 293 votes.
According to the party, the data at its disposal indicate that the NDC obtained 50,306 votes against 50,013 for the NPP with 919 votes rejected.
However, they say the incumbent government and the EC led by Jean Mensah are working to “deny the NDC a parliamentary majority.”
Mac Manu, reacting to NDC’s claims, accused them of producing inaccurate figures to provoke public discontent towards the EC.
“It is important to expose the lies, deception, propaganda and political shenanigans of the NDC since the process began leading up to the 2020 general election.
“The NDC has always had the feeling that they will lose the election and therefore since the beginning of the year they have been constantly setting the integrity of the EC.”
The PNP campaign manager also notified that the party will challenge a series of parliamentary seats declared in favor of the opposition NDC.
