Sammi Awuku, a national organizer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP), has called on the leaders of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to calm their supporters.

The NDC and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, have refused to accept the verdict of the 2020 presidential election.

They claim that the elections were rigged and therefore do not recognize the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Party supporters have also staged a series of demonstrations, burning tires on the roads and going to law enforcement.

Supporters are calling for the electoral verdict to be overturned and for their presidential candidate, John Mahama, to be declared president-elect.

Sammi Awuku, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, has advised the opposition party to stop the situation and bring its supporters to order.

“Managing supporters is not easy and that is why we hope that the NDC leadership will take responsibility. Don’t leave your supporters at the mercy of law enforcement … No one can do it better than them. Tell your people to exercise patience, let’s leave the protest, “he said.

In addition, he issued a challenge to the “National Organizer of the party and its youth leader that this is not the time to turn his back on his followers and leave them to their faith because there is a danger. As they are destroying people’s property and burning tires, you leave them at the mercy of the Police. ”

“When the election results are announced, no matter how painful it is … you handle the situation. But the NDC leaders should not give the impression that they won the election and we have stolen it,” he added.

He also woke up supporters to the fact that his party leaders are not leading their protest on the streets, so it should be a warning sign for them.
