We won the Techiman South seat by 293 votes: NDC demands that the EC collect the results again

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) believes that its parliamentary candidate is the rightful occupant of the Techiman Sur seat in the general elections that have just ended.

The choice of constituency was marred by some acts of violence that resulted in the death of two people after a fight between supporters of the NDC and the PNP government and some security agents.

At a press conference on Tuesday, the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, explained that the government is working to “deny the NDC a parliamentary majority.”

According to the party, the data at its disposal indicate that the NDC obtained 50,306 votes against 50,013 for the NPP with 919 votes rejected.

The 293 vote margin would have made NDC candidate Christopher Beyere the deputy-elect, according to the minority.

The presentation was made by Deputy Minority Leader James Klutse Avedzi, who gave the breakdown of the votes cast by 128,021 eligible voters.

Mr. Avedzi presented the tabulation of what, according to the deputies, are the certified pink sheets of the more than 200 polling stations in the constituency.

Haruna Iddrisu further demanded that “we want to see the summary of the survey. But as for what we’ll do, leave it to us. “

Meanwhile, the EC has yet to publicly publish the constituency’s parliamentary results on its website.

NDC MPs have already threatened to boycott President Akufo-Addo’s inauguration for a second term if the parliamentary results are not reconciled at Techiman South.
