The Ghana Election Commission (EC) staff will proceed to recess for the Christmas and New Years holidays starting Wednesday, December 23, as confirmed by 3news.com.

A memo seen by 3news.com and intended for all staff said that tasks will resume on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

The memorandum dated Monday, December 21, 2020 was signed by the Vice President in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare.

The Commission held Ghana’s eighth consecutive presidential and parliamentary elections in the Fourth Republic on December 7, 2020.

However, the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has rejected the results, accusing several irregularities of the exercise.

Its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, is accusing Commission Chairman Jean Mensa of conspiring to rig the elections of incumbent Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
