Abraham Scores Twice & Chelsea Beat Hammers – Ghana Soccer Latest News, Live Scores, Results

Tammy Abraham’s goals were her sixth and seventh of the season

Tammy Abraham scored twice for Chelsea to end their recent mini-knockdown by beating West Ham United at Stamford Bridge to move up to fifth place in the Premier League.

Back-to-back losses had seen the Blues slide down the table, but they made the ideal start Monday when Thiago Silva finished off with a header in the 10th minute.

Timo Werner turned down a couple of good chances to increase the hosts’ lead, but played his part in the second 12 minutes to go for his team as Abraham converted his scrap shot.

The Chelsea striker, back on the wing in place of Olivier Giroud, then scored another just two minutes later when he was in the right place to pick up the loose ball and curl home after Christian Pulisic missed a simple header from a center.

The scoreboard flattered Chelsea a bit, as West Ham were the better team for long stretches, but the visitors paid the price for the lack of lead as they ended the game without a shot on goal.

Chelsea nervous but back on the winning track Thiago Silva’s goal was Chelsea’s second this season

Chelsea began this month by being mentioned as potential title contenders. They had topped the table after a win over Leeds, but losses to Everton and Wolves had left them in the round of 16 and desperate to rediscover their initial season form.

Silva’s early goal helped to calm the nerves a bit, but his game soon turned difficult and West Ham took control.

However, Chelsea found the Hammers enduring a rare day off in front of goal (this was only the second time this season that David Moyes’s team failed to score in the Premier League) and when Abraham slipped into his second final on the blues they were able to breathe a sigh of relief.

It was a much-needed victory for Frank Lampard’s team, with the only real frustration being Werner’s continued disappointing form in front of goal.

This was the eighth consecutive game that the German international failed to find the back of the net, with failures at the end of both halves very similar to those of a forward with little confidence, first with a docile effort from a good position in Lukasz Fabianski, and then headed for the crossbar when it seemed easier to score.

A day off for the Hammers

West Ham have become a disciplined and tough team to beat with Moyes this season and they rightly have their eye on finishing towards the top end of the Premier League.

A victory at Chelsea would have seen them outperform their opponents on the table, but that rarely seemed likely as they struggled to create in the final third.

Michail Antonio’s presence in attack was lost as Sebastian Haller, who scored one of the season’s best goals so far in a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last time out, was largely ineffective against the hosts’ defense. .

Silva’s early goal was also the first time West Ham’s normally well-trained defense conceded a set piece in 2020-21, underscoring that this was a bad day at the office for them.
