The driver’s lawyer for the NDC’s deputy secretary general, Peter Otukonor, who was arrested Monday morning in connection with the recent market fires, says his client is being tortured by the National Bureau of Investigation.
Victor Kojogah Adawudu said he received information that his client, Eric Adoglah, is being tortured to admit to certain false accusations against him.
According to him, the defendant’s lawyer has not yet been informed about the crime with which his client is charged and, therefore, his arrest.
He narrated that after receiving the information that his client had been arrested, he went to the NIB office but was informed that his client had been transferred to Kawukudi.
However, upon reaching Kawukudi, attorney Adawudu said that the client was denied access on the grounds that the NIB officer in question was not available at the time.
“My source of information says that they are torturing him to admit things that he should not and that is what they are doing. When they went to the house, my information is that they took the teaser and that is what they do.
“It is shocking that the very government that calls for peace is intimidating people who belong to the NDC. Your boss [Peter Otukonor] it’s been vocal, so it’s an attempt to get him to say something about his boss or something that has been planted for him to say it’s about my boss. We do not know. So we don’t want to guess. “
