John Dumelo, parliamentary candidate of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) for Ayawaso West Wuoguon, has finally conceded the defeat to the incumbent MP, Lydia Alhassan, in the recently concluded elections.
On his Facebook page, the actor indicated that although he is not satisfied with the results of the results, he is willing to put Ghana first and allow peace to prevail.
“I may not be satisfied with the final results or the irregularities that have occurred, but first of all I am Ghanaian and will always put people first“ Ut omnes onum Sent ”. So I am willing to help make this district the largest, ”he said.
He added: “Lydia was told by many that it was impossible for me to even dream of winning, but the numbers I got and you won by a very small margin, especially in a stronghold like that of the PNP, make me extremely proud of the Campaign.”
Prior to his grant, John Dumelo had requested a vote recount in the constituency.
According to him, there were several irregularities during the December elections.
However, in the last hours of Sunday, Dumelo accepted his fate and assured that he would return stronger.
According to him, in 2004 he competed for KNUST Queens Hall Secretary but lost, however in 2005 he applied to KNUST Organizing Secretary, Civil Engineering Students Association and this round won.
Again in 2019 he ran for the NDC parliamentary primaries and won. He indicated that losing the December 7 election as a deputy for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency will not stop him.
“The truth is that every time I lose, I come back stronger because I don’t see it as a loss, I see it as a journey towards perfection. It is only when you are depressed that you appreciate what it takes to get back up, “he said.
The actor-turned-politician who expressed his appreciation to the electorate said: “So I want to thank the more than 37,000 people who voted for me in Ayawaso West Wuogon. From the bottom of my heart, I really appreciate you all. For those who did not vote for me, I hope that in the future I can work and show them that I am worthy of their vote.
He also expressed his gratitude to his collaborators, actors and friends in the creative art industry for supporting him during his campaign.
However, John Dumelo in his post also revealed his plans to return to farming and extend a helping hand to those in need.
“I will continue to cultivate, travel through Ghana, involve people, help entrepreneurs and touch the lives of as many Ghanaians as I can; “Facta non verba”.
