Louis van Gaal criticizes Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal criticized current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, claiming the Norwegian is still at United just because he played for the team.

With United posting a string of mixed results, Van Gaal believes that Solskjaer has the added protection of being a club legend and simply won’t be fired by United mid-season.

“Solskjaer is a former player so he won’t be fired as quickly as anyone else. United don’t fire a coach during the season, especially Solskjaer. I see all the stories about Solskjaer and his future in the media. But they waited to fire me until the end of the season and that could happen to him ”, the Dutchman quotes The Mirror.

Van Gaal received his marching orders from United in the summer of 2016, despite winning the FA Cup for the club against Crystal Palace a few hours earlier.

There has been some pressure from a section of United fans for Solskjaer’s firing, even more so after the club was eliminated from the Champions League and more called for the appointment of former Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino.
