– Fire has destroyed the Kaneshie market in Accra
– The cause of the fire is unknown as firefighters fought without a fire tender.
– There have been many fires in the market in December.
One of Ghana’s main markets, Kaneshie, has been devastated by fire.
The outbreak occurred at dawn with various goods that were feared to have been lost in hell. This is the first time in years that this main market has caught fire, considering the strict security protocol and market surveillance there.
This leads to a total of 5 market fires in Ghana in December alone. So far, the cause of the fire is unknown. But traders suspect arson.
Another fire was previously reported at the main Asankragwa market in the western region’s Amenfi West Township, wiping out four stalls and other properties worth thousands of CDs on Friday night.

The disaster, according to eyewitnesses, was controlled after two hours by residents.
Some of the eyewitnesses who have been speaking to journalists said that the Ghana Fire Service in the municipality appeared helpless when fire raged through shops as a result of a broken fire tender for the past six months.
The Ghana Fire Service grade 1 district officer in the municipality, Judge Agyee, confirming his inability to control the fire, said there was nothing his team could do without a fire tender.
So far, the cause of the fire is not immediately known.
The month of December has seen major fires in markets across the country, the latest being the Kantamanto market fire that devastated thousands of stores.
Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited the site of the fire that destroyed parts of the Kantamanto market in Accra.
In several photos YEN.com.gh saw on the vice president’s Facebook page, he was seen inspecting the level of damage the fire had caused.
Dr. Bawumia was seen in the company of other government officials as they made rounds to speak with some of the victims of the December 15, 2020 fire outbreak.
Reports also added that hell started late at night on December 15, 2020 and did not go out until the early hours of December 16, 2020.

After posting the photos, Dr. Bawumia indicated that the government was going to provide some kind of relief to the victims of hell.
His post read:
“I paid a visit to the victims of the Kantamanto market fire today, December 16, 2020, to inspect the extent of the damage caused and also to express my condolences.
I indicated that the Government will provide the necessary assistance to mitigate the loss and also urged everyone to implement precautionary measures to minimize these unfortunate events. “
Traders affected by the disaster are counting their losses, especially when most of them do not have an insurance policy to fall back on in these difficult times.
Fire accidents are becoming widespread in the country’s shopping centers. Many say the buck stops on insurance companies that often choose not to insure market centers.
