West Brom drew 1-1 at Manchester City on Tuesday
Slaven Bilic says he is going “head high” after being fired as West Brom’s manager.
The 52-year-old Croat was replaced by Sam Allardyce on Wednesday after 18 months in charge.
“I’m sorry I can’t properly say goodbye to all of you at The Hawthorns,” Bilic said.
West Brom is second last in the Premier League with seven points from 13 games.
Promoted from the Championship on the final day of last season, they have only won once in the league this season.
“I am incredibly proud to have achieved automatic Championship promotion in our first season,” said Bilic.
“It was a real shame not to have our loyal fans there with us during that time and on our return to the Premier League.
“My staff and I are grateful to have had the privilege of serving you.
“Ultimately, I am saddened that it didn’t work out the way we wanted.
“But I’m leaving with my head held high, along with some wonderful memories that I will always treasure.”
