Chelsea manager Frank Lampard left frustrated by his team’s inconsistency
Speaking to Sky Sports (h / t The Express), Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has opened up to his team’s inconsistency following their late loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.
It was our second loss in a row, once again granting a chance to close the gap with Tottenham Hotspur at the top.
Olivier Giroud overtook us, but goals from Daniel Podence and a goal in injury time from Pedro Neto made us leave Molineux without points.
“This is the Premier League and if you don’t act, you lose games.”
In his post-match comments, Lampard hinted that complacency could be one reason for our poor form as of late.
“Performance is what gives you results, and we had a long streak of good performances, but maybe the guys think we’re playing well, and when you think you’re playing well, this is what happens.”
He also admitted that perhaps the Blues were wrong in their attempts to win the game instead of settling for a point.
“If you’re not playing that well, which we didn’t do tonight, hold on to 1-0. Control the game. Do not allow counterattacks. And we did. “
So far it has been a December to forget for the Blues. Not only have we lost two Premier League games on the rebound, but we also drew a tough opponent at Atlético de Madrid in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
The prospect of throwing the lead will definitely be a source of irritation for Lampard. On the same night that Manchester City also lost points, Chelsea failed to put the light of day between them and the teams below.

Chelsea return to Stamford Bridge to face West Ham United on December 21. This will be followed by clashes against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City during the busy holiday period.
Given how close the title race is shaping up, we can’t afford to lose any more points to avoid skidding like we did last season.
