The Electoral Commission (EC) has finally published the “pink sheets” for the 2020 presidential elections.
The pink sheets, which are the official documents showing the total number of votes of the respective candidates surveyed in the election, were published on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
As is known, Ghana went to the polls on Monday, December 7, 2020, in an election in which 12 candidates sought the mandate of the people to be president.
Two days after the polls, the Electoral Commission, headed by its president Jean Mensa, declared the incumbent president, Nana Akufo-Addo, as the winner.
According to Ms. Mensa’s statement, Akufo-Addo defeated his closest contender, John Mahama of the NDC, by more than 500,000 votes.
But the NDC has since rejected the statement and Mahama described it as amounting to illegality.
According to Mahama, there were violations of the law governing the elections and therefore the CE declaration is illegal.
Days after the declaration and rejection of the NDC, the EC has published the “pink sheets” on its website.
Sixteen in all, the pink sheets show the performance of each of the presidential candidates in the sixteen regions of the country.

Meanwhile, president of the EC Jean Mensa has made a rare appearance on social media. after declaring the results of the 2020 presidential elections
In a video, Ms. Mensa has denied reports that she traveled out of the country after announcing Nana Akufo-Addo as the winner.
According to the head of the EC, although she has a valid visa for the United States, she loves Ghana and will not be traveling at this time.
The video comes amid backlash from the EC after it made mistakes in calculating the final figures for Akufo-Addo and his challenger, John Mahama.
