The standard bearer of the opposition Democratic National Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama visits the Techiman Sur constituency in the East Bono Region.
The purpose of his visit is to make a call to the families of the victims of some clashes that occurred in the area during the recently concluded general elections.
The chaos started after the NDC believed they had won the Techiman South constituency, but the returning officer had declared the results in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, who is also the Deputy Minister of Reorganization. and Regional Development.
The unrest in the Techiman South constituency led to the deaths of two people: Abdallah Ayaric and Tajudeen Alhassan.
Four people were also injured of varying degrees after the military allegedly fired warning shots at the District Collection Center in the early hours of Tuesday, December 8.
In addition to visiting grieving families to sympathize with them, the former president will also visit the wounded upon entering the hospital.
Meanwhile, former president and presidential candidate of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has rejected the results of the 2020 elections.
Speaking for the first time after the EC statement, Mahama bluntly declared that he would not accept the EC results. According to the NDC presidential candidate, the results declared by EC are “flawed and discredited.”
Mahama went on to claim that Jean Mensa’s statement of the results was a clear violation of the law because he did not follow the established rules for conducting the elections.
In a related development, hundreds of supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have gathered at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters prior to the declaration of results.
They said they went there to make sure the NDC’s Mahama is declared the winner of the 2020 election.
In an interview with TV3’s Evelyn Tengmaa monitored by YEN.com.gh on that television station, they said they had appeared there in their numbers to make sure the right thing was done.
