Chelsea manager Frank Lampard admits his Chelsea players are already feeling festive fatigue after their latest Premier League loss to Wolves.

Pedro Neto scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to claim a 2-1 victory for the hosts after Daniel Podence canceled Olivier Giroud’s first goal.

The victory would have brought the visitors to the top of the Premier League, but they fell to back-to-back losses in the top flight for the first time in more than a year.

Lampard said: ‘There could be some fatigue. I hate to say it after a loss because it feels like an excuse, but even in the first 60 minutes, when we were the best team, we had nothing to do with ourselves.

“ We traveled to Everton, we returned and then we traveled to Wolves, but they are all in the same boat.

‘We have a couple of injuries in areas, which means I can’t make too many changes, so I understand that side.

‘They have given us different types of games in these last two. Everton made it difficult for us to take them down, we didn’t, and the Wolves played a counter-attack style.

“The players have to feel that on the field because the message was very clear about their counterattack and the people who could hurt us and that is disappointing.”

Chelsea’s great Chelsea and Lampard’s former teammate, Joe Cole, agreed with the Blues coach, saying the Wolves looked the team in better shape as the game reached its final stages.

He said: ‘I think Chelsea when they analyze that second half will be kicked. Especially Neto’s goal because they have lost their form in attack. The game was getting end-to-end and the Wolves seemed to have the strongest and fittest athletic team. ”

When asked if he thought Chelsea started to get fatigued, he replied: ‘I thought so. Keep in mind that they have had a fantastic Champions League campaign.

‘I think Frank might have to look at this and see some players who looked a bit leggy.

‘Everton was a bump in the road, I think this is a bigger bump in the road. I don’t think it’s one that you worry too much about, but maybe you tweak some players here and there. In this game they seemed a bit tired. ‘

His co-expert Paul Scholes added that Chelsea did not deserve the game on balance of play.

The former Manchester United player said: ‘Chelsea as a whole didn’t create enough to win the game to be honest.

‘(Christian) Pulisic looked good in the first half, but then he got tired and you can understand why he hasn’t played much football. But at the end of the day, the Wolves probably deserved it with those last 20-30 minutes.
