Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman says fans and observers must accept that the team is no longer the favorite to win every game.
Barcelona will face Real Sociedad on Wednesday and will hope to choose from where they went against Levante over the weekend. The Spanish giants suffered back-to-back defeats to Cádiz and Juventus, making their worst start in 33 years and Koeman insists fans must accept that the team is no longer a favorite in every game. The Barça coach adds that it is still difficult for him to accept certain attitudes about how the team should play.
“The pressure here is enormous, everyone demands that you win every game,” Koeman told a news conference.
“But the situation at the club is different now and we must accept that we cannot win all the time.
“I can understand the criticism when you lose four or five games, but the other day they criticized me for bringing in a defender in the last minutes and I couldn’t understand that because we just wanted to win.
“But we cannot be happy with our results so far, we have lost games that we should not have lost. We are trying to improve things and the result we got the other day was very important.”
“The team worked hard and showed a good attitude, and I hope the three points will give us the peace of mind we need for tomorrow’s game.”
