The Electoral Commission (EC) has denied reports that one of its officials has been arrested in Somanya for reducing the votes of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This stems from media reports suggesting that a commission official cut the votes of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) standard-bearer, John Dramani Mahama, by about 3,000 votes.
“We want to say that this is false,” the Commission insisted in its December 14 statement. “
By describing the development as “fake news”, the EC urged the public to refrain from such reports.
Meanwhile, the NDC has yet to accept the EC’s verdict declaring President Akufo-Addo the winner of the recently concluded elections.
The party has accused the Commission of manipulating the figures to favor the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP).
However, Tamale Central Member of Parliament Inusah Fuseini said the party will demand a forensic audit of the elections when they go to court.
