The Central Region Police Command arrested Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Executive Director Ransford Kwesi Nyarko for assaulting a police officer and releasing a suspect into custody.

It is alleged that the DCE approached the loading officer at the Ogyeso Police Station on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in the company of some men.

He reportedly subsequently ordered his group to attack the police officer on duty.

Narrating the incidents that led to the assault, PRO Regional Police, DSP Irene Oppong said that the victim, Corporal Frank Mensah, was at the post when a whistleblower went to the prosecution office around 9:30 p.m. to complain that a Cosmos had attacked his grandson.

The agent then accompanied the complainant and made the arrest and placed the suspect in the police cells, while taking statements from the parties involved.

According to the Police, he received a call from someone who identified himself as Bob, however, said Bob verbally abused him, so he ended the call and went about his duties.

A few minutes later, a motorcycle and two cars, including the DCE vehicle, arrived at the police station.
