Juventus forward Paulo Dybala has speculated about his future but did little to quell suggestions that his time in Turin could come to an end in 2021.
The Argentine international is entering the final 18 months of his contract at Allianz Stadium, with suggestions that the Italian champions have yet to decide what’s next for their number 10.
Once touted as the future of the club and poster boy, Dybala has struggled to stay fit this season and is now being viewed as a potential weight in his quest to re-sign Paul Pogba.
After scoring 17 goals in 46 games with Maurizio Sarri last season, he has been kicked out of Andrea Pirlo’s first-choice starting lineup this season, with Álvaro Morata increasingly preferred as Cristiano Ronaldo’s attacking partner.
The 27-year-old scored just his second goal of the season in Juventus’ 3-1 win over Genoa on Sunday.
And amid claims that they might look to cash in on him in 2021, and have little interest in offering him some kind of improved deal, Dybala pointed out.
Most interestingly, he also revealed his frustration that, despite his agent’s presence in Turin recently, the club made no effort to sit down and talk about their future.
“So many things have been said that are not true in relation to my contract.
“My agent was in Turin for a long time and the club never called him. I am disappointed to hear about invested financial figures.
“It would be better if the truth could be told, because talking about these aspects in this period confronts me with the fans, with all the love I have for Juventus.”
It is not the first time a Serie A exit has been touted for Dybala, as both Manchester United and Spurs received his services in 2019.
Now, with Juventus interested in Pogba returning from United next year, and with agent Mino Raiola increasingly looking to assure his client of a return to Turin, the Italian giants need to raise funds as they have only held a I step ahead of the Financial Fair Play regulations in 2020 due to some creative accounting work last summer.
As such, Dybala is seen as the most likely sacrifice, particularly with his £ 13.5 million a year (£ 225k a week) salary consuming the club’s coffers.
