Okudzeto Ablakwa in the hospital
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has taken over paying medical bills for patients at Battor Catholic Hospital.
According to Okudzeto Ablakwa, his decision to pay patients’ medical bills is a way of thanking his constituents for re-electing him as a deputy for the fourth time.
The former Deputy Minister of Education won 39,294 votes to defeat his New Patriotic Party counterpart, Collins Arku, who won 4,086 votes in the December 7, 2020 elections.
Okudzeto Ablakwa became the deputy of North Tongu at the young age of 28 on the Democratic National Congress list in 2008. He won the seat by 78.6% of the votes cast.
However, this year’s elections were exceptional for Ablakwa, as he obtained 89% of the votes cast, while his opponent obtained 9% of the votes.
As a token of appreciation for the massive victory on December 7, he posted on his official Twitter account on Sunday that he will take care of all medical bills for those receiving care.
His tweet read: “So we stormed into the Battor Catholic Hospital Children’s Ward in my beloved constituency shortly after we were declared victorious to take care of all medical bills for those receiving care. Call that our Thanksgiving Offering in honor of my dearest constituents. Hands together “.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been a cornerstone for the NDC in parliament by debating relevant issues that are important to the development of the country.
