Jordi Alba knew who to thank when Barcelona beat Levante 1-0 in LaLiga Santander on Sunday night.
Lionel Messi scored the only goal of the match in the second half, beating Aitor Fernández with the help of the post. It’s just the Argentine’s fifth goal of the season in the league, which isn’t much compared to his high standards.
“The forwards go through spells,” Jordi Alba told Movistar LaLiga after the match. “We know that if we give him the ball, he can create danger. Leo won today’s game with his goal.
“I think we came in and did a very good job. We need to make the most of the points we have left.”
Barcelona are now nine points behind Real Sociedad in first place in LaLiga Santander and their left-back is hoping to push the table.
“If we do things well, we will climb higher,” added Jordi Alba. “We have lost points that we should not have made. This season, there are teams near the top that normally are not. That is important for LaLiga.”
