Match summary – Inter Allies 1-2 Bechem United:
We were caught up in our first home loss in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season, losing 2-1 to Bechem United at the Accra sports stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Paul Abanga’s penalty goal only nullified Moro Salifu’s penalty, but Wontah Hafiz Konkoni scored the winning goal late in the game.
Henrik Lehm made two changes to the team that lost to King Faisal last week with Richmond Lamptey returning and Patrick Amarh making his first outing.
Well, we got off to a good start with a lot of possession, but we had few chances to score.
After half of our first leg, we had our first shot on goal and almost the first goal. Richmond Lamptey came out of nowhere and fired from far to beat the keeper but the wood denied us advance.
A few minutes later, Richmond again caught a fumble around Bechem’s area but couldn’t catch it, the defender was quick to block his shot.
It was so clear that we were on the rise and hoping to score at least one goal before half-time, but the visitors were so strong until recess.
However, we got off to a bad start to the second half, Bechem United won a penalty after Isah Ali knocked down their scoreboard, their captain Moro Salifu made no mistakes from the penalty spot.
Alex Aso and Kingsley Braye combined to find space in the area, but the latter’s shot was so weak for the keeper to claim it.
A few minutes later, Richmond Lamptey was fouled in the box and the referee was quick to point out the box. Paul Abanga was not wrong and leveled things out.
We were so strong and tough and we kept looking for the winner despite letting the visitors slip away at times.
They were lucky with seven minutes on the clock. Wontah Hafiz Konkoni, after approaching minutes earlier, headed home which became the winner.
We fought for at least one goal back but the script was already written. Konkoni was named the NASCO MVP of the match.
