Police in Jomoro, in the western region, invited executives from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (PNP) to a meeting after a clash between their supporters left two people injured.
Western Region Public Relations Officer DSP Olivia Adiku explained that the clash occurred as members of the two parties celebrated their victories.
“The NPP was excited about a presidential victory and the NDC was jubilant after the victory of its elected MP, Dorcas Affo-Toffey,” he told JoyNews.
However, Jomoro police say that two NPP and NDC sympathizers who were injured during the clash were treated and released.
Additionally, he urged the public to ignore a video circulating online showing a man whose limbs had been amputated after the incident as an untrue reflection of the incident.
DSP Adiku said that calm has been restored in the area and that the Regional Commander has invited the executives of the two parties to resolve their differences.
