The opposition women’s wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has embarked on a demonstration to reaffirm its rejection of the results of the presidential elections declared by the president of the EC, Ms. Jean Mensah, on December 9.
The rally was led by the party’s national women’s organizer, Ms. Hanna Louisa Bisiw, to show the women’s determination to fight to ensure that the EC overturns its decision.
Ms. Bisiw, speaking during the rally at Party headquarters, said the Commission should do the right thing by reversing the statement.
He said that the figures, on the basis of which Nana Akufo-Addo was declared president-elect, were inaccurate and urged the Commission to use the correct figures, which would show that John Mahama was the winner of the election.
Ms Bisiw said that the NDC wanted peace and that the EC should collect results from electoral districts whose results have not yet been collected and declared.
He said that women suffered the most during conflicts and urged the Commission to produce the correct figures to declare the NDC winner of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He called on Civil Society Organizations and the International Community to make a statement on the issue and encourage the Electoral Commission to change its decision that peace prevail in the country.
