Takefusa Kubo’s loan at Villarreal has not gone as planned, and the Japanese star is now looking for a way back to parent club Real Madrid.

Kubo hasn’t started a single league game so far this season and only played 58 minutes against Sivasspor in the Europa League on Thursday night. This is a great disappointment for both the player and Real Madrid, with Unai Emery’s lack of confidence in the player now very evident.

His time at Real Mallorca was a stark contrast to the way things are going at Villarreal, but Getafe manager José Bordalas is keeping an eye on the situation in the hope of securing the playmaker’s services.

During Real Madrid’s recent visit to the Estadio de la Cerámica, the club held talks with Kubo and it was decided that both parties would wait until January to assess their progress with El Submarino Amarillo.

Real Madrid see Kubo as an important part of the first team in the relatively near future, however, they believe that it is vital that he has playing time in the first division in the coming months.

The whites have a good relationship with Villarreal, who have Kubo under contract until June 30, but with Getafe waiting behind the scenes for a possible deal to bring in the Japanese star in January, the matter will need to be discussed with the Villarreal president , Fernando Roig.
