Erling Braut Haaland’s father Alf Inge Haaland confirms that he had talks with Juventus before joining Borussia Dortmund and ‘loves Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’.
The hitman has won the 2020 Golden Boy award as the young player most likely to have a breakout campaign, so his father, the former Leeds United striker, spoke to the newspaper that organizes it, Tuttosport.
“He was born as a forward and he always adored players who scored a lot of goals, but two in particular: Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo,” Haaland Senior said.
“He also had a soft spot for Mario Balotelli at Manchester City. He is never satisfied and trains constantly, because he wants to become the best. He’s super focused and lives for football.
“It’s easy to see how passionate he is, as if he scores two goals and is substituted, he gets angry because he wanted a third.”
There are already questions about Haaland’s future, and Juventus, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, PSG and Barcelona are expected to participate in the bidding war.
“He is very happy at Borussia Dortmund at the moment, but Erling loves a challenge and you never know what the future holds in football. We’ll see…”
Juve is not an entirely new option, having been in negotiations prior to the transfer to Dortmund.
“It’s true. It was a wonderful experience, we went to see Juventus-Inter and I was really impressed with the atmosphere at Juventus Stadium.”
