The fire has destroyed the panels of the Yendi Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) pump in the Dakar river near Yendi, a situation that is likely to create water shortages in and around the municipality.
The company’s Yendi District Manager, Alhaji Adam Sayibu, reached out on Friday with Ya-Na Abukari II, Yendi Municipal Executive Director Alhaji Hammed Abubakari Yussuf, and Yendi Divisional Police Acting Commander, Superintendent Twum Barimah, on the burned bomb panels.
He said GWCL Regional Management in Tamale had sent for the parts in Accra because they suspected that power fluctuation was the cause of the fire.
He assured that regular water supply would be resumed when parts arrived for repair.
For his part, Ya-Na Abukari II the Overlord after inspecting the damaged bomb panels with the Gbewaa Palace Public Relations Officer, Mr. Musah Yakubu and his secretary, Mr. Abdul-Raman Mahama, advised the people of Yendi to use the water they had. judiciously stored, as the municipality had no other source of water to supply them.
He said he and the municipal executive director would work together to ensure that Ghana Water Company Limited fixed the problem.
