Dancehall artist Samini has urged Ghanaians to put their differences aside and support President-elect Akufo-Addo in his second term.
On Instagram, Samini claimed that the “peaceful and transparent” elections that just ended is proof that Ghanaians put the country down. Furthermore, he implored that the nation rally behind Akufo-Addo to move the nation forward.
“So everyone for Ghana, let’s come together and help Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo continue her next four years and put Ghana first. Let’s help him achieve his dreams and aspirations and all the great plans he has for the Nation ”, he added.
He also appreciated the level of tolerance that Ghanaians exercised on Election Day and applauded the success of the elections.
“Congratulations to all of Ghana for putting Ghana first, congratulations to everyone who came out to vote, thank you for putting Ghana first. Thank you for making this a peaceful and transparent election and thank you for not making it violent. “
According to him, Ghana will not enjoy the peace it does without the collaborative effort of all citizens, regardless of their party affiliation.
He also advised PNP supporters to refrain from excessively celebrating and rejoicing in celebrating their victory.
Samini had initially faced backlash for openly supporting President-elect Akufo-Addo and the PNP before the elections.
However, the ‘My Own’ hitmaker took to Twitter to announce that he was choosing to vote for a leader who he believes has a “hopeful” future for the country.
