I am not willing to accept ‘fictitious’ results of a flawed choice – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama says that although he accepted defeat in the 2016 election, he is unable to do so now due to some irregularities he has identified in compiling the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Giving an example, the NDC standard-bearer said in Sefwi Wiawso, the results were declared without the contents of an urn.

“The ballot box mysteriously disappeared on the way to the collation center.
However, the results were declared in favor of the PNP candidate, ”he added.

Addressing the nation a day after the Electoral Commission’s election verdict, Mr. Mahama said that the declaration of the PNP standard-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, as president-elect, is not the will of the people.

The former president explained that it is due to various concerns raised that he has decided to defend the sacred verdict of the people of Ghana, that is, not to admit defeat.

And if we are going to progress as a nation, if we are going to live up to the heritage of our history, one for which the people have paid the ultimate price.

“I stand before you tonight without wanting to accept the fictitious results of a flawed election,” he said.

He used the platform to congratulate all the parliamentary candidates who, according to him, have earned the title of “giant elephant killers.”

“We entered the parliamentary elections with a deficit of 63 seats. We have made up for our losses in 2016 and are now prepared to become a majority in Parliament.

“This historic feat after one term shows the strength of our great party and the strength of the mandate that the good people of Ghana have given us to lead.”

He assured NDC supporters and Ghanaians “they voted for this
change ”that legitimate steps will be taken to reverse what he describes as a parody of justice.

“Let me assure you, my dear voter, your vote will count.

“The voice of the people is the voice of God; So let’s move on knowing that God is on our side and if God is for us, who is against us! he said.
