Partey suffered an injury against Tottenham
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists the setback to Thomas Partey’s injury was not due to the club rushing him into their North London derby against Tottenham.
Partey will be ‘missing the next matches’ due to a recurrence of his recent thigh problem, Arteta confirmed on Wednesday before his Europa League match with Dundalk.
The 2-0 loss to Spurs was Partey’s first appearance in almost a month and Arteta said: ‘He did incredibly well and was very confident. We tested it three times and it was uneventful.
In football there are many unpredictable actions. ‘ Partey limped off the field against Tottenham, leaving Arsenal light on defense as the Spurs scored on a counterattack.
Arteta is ready to give the Arsenal kids their chance in Thursday night’s clash. The club is looking to finish its Europa League group with a perfect record after five wins out of five.
Arteta added that he would fully support his players if they decided to leave the field if they felt there was a racist incident, in light of what happened in the Champions League clash between PSG and Istanbul Basaksehir.
