The ruling New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Bannerman, has expressed disappointment at the result of Monday’s poll.
NDC parliamentary candidate Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye retained Odododiodioo’s parliamentary seat by polling 41,446 votes out of the total votes cast.
Nii Lante Bannerman fell behind with 34,887 votes.
Mr. Bannerman in a statement said that despite his defeat, he will continue to be committed to public service and to fight for the ideals and principles that will improve the Odododiodoo constituency.
“For all those whose concerns have been our concern, this political campaign may have come to an end, but the work continues, the cause endures, hope lives on and the ideals that drive us will never die,” he added in his statement.
Newly elected Nii Lante Vanderpuye, who was arrested early Tuesday morning and later granted bail, beat his closest opponent by more than 6,000 votes.
The Odododiodoo constituency was one of the hotspots for the elections in the Greater Accra region.

It has been an exhilarating campaign period for me and for the PNP, and we have savored every moment.
Let me first thank GOD for how far HE and I have taken the PNP in the Odododiodoo constituency. I also wish to thank our Council of Elders and Trustees, District Executives, Zone Coordinators, Election Table Executives and the good people of Odododiodoo who supported my candidacy for Member of Parliament.
I thank you for the prayers that have lifted my spirits, the countless acts of courage, generosity and grace that I have experienced during this campaign.
Although I am disappointed with the result, I will continue my commitment to public service by helping others and fighting for the ideals and principles that will make our beloved Odododiodioo a better place to live.
For all those whose concerns have been our concern, this political campaign may have come to an end, but the work continues, the cause endures, hope still lives, and the ideals that drive us will never die.
It is also my prayer that the good LORD grant eternal rest to those who have lost their lives for this cause and to the injured, a speedy recovery.
I hope that the perpetrators behind the heinous attacks that led to the deaths and injuries will face all the rigors of the law.
