Here are the Liverpool night headlines for Tuesday December 8th.
Klopp names players without whom Liverpool would be “lost”
Jurgen Klopp has named several young players as crucial pieces of the team as he grapples with the current injury crisis to open the season.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League game against FC Midtjylland, Klopp announced the readiness of his young players to join the Liverpool squad when the top teams were lost through injury.
“I know we don’t have to put it any other way, we had some problems, injury-wise,” he said. “We lost some top-tier players to injuries and then of course one door closed and another opened, and that’s it.
“But you still need the right kids to seize the opportunity and how the kids did it, we can really analyze them all.
“What Rhys Williams has done so far in the Champions League was exceptional. What Nat Phillips did when he played in the Premier League was absolutely exceptional.
“Neco played two very good games in a row, especially the last one. Curtis, play like you’ve been playing for 10 years for us.
“Caoimh was already a talent and now he has the opportunity to show it on the big stage and he has the opportunity to show it on the big stage.
“So without these guys, we would have gotten lost, to be honest. Thank God it worked. “
Klopp criticized for yelling at referee
Klopp has come under fire for yelling at referee Craig Pawson during Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday night.
After Sadio Mane apparently dropped Conor Coady, Pawson awarded a penalty. However, he was instructed to review his decision on the field side monitor, where Klopp could be seen berating him as he reconsidered his initial decision.
Pawson reversed his decision, giving Liverpool a free kick, but former Premier League referee Mark Halsey criticized Klopp.
“I noticed that Jurgen Klopp was yelling at him and yelling at Craig Pawson when he came up to the monitor and said, ‘He hasn’t touched it,'” Halsey told This Is Futbol.
“I was really yelling at him, saying, ‘You haven’t touched him, you haven’t touched him, he dived, he dived.’
“I think we have to get away from that and I know the fourth official, Andy Madley, had to talk to Klopp about that situation, but you have to wonder why the monitor is right next to the tunnel.
“I suppose there is nowhere else in Anfield to go to, so I think it is something to be aware of and maybe Jurgen shouldn’t be saying anything.”

Alisson Becker and Thiago Alacantara injury update
Klopp provided an update on star goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s injury and his midfield options without Thiago Alacantara.
Alisson has missed the last two games after sustaining a hamstring injury in a 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion two weeks ago. Klopp confirmed that he would now miss Wednesday’s trip to Denmark.
However, the injury crisis has not subsided as Thiago, Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are not yet available.
More positively, Klopp confirmed that no further problems were recorded over the weekend. “No [update], which is good news, ”he said.
“Nobody suffered any kind of problem or injury or anything from the last game that would rule it out for the next.”
