The Electoral Commission (EC) has postponed the expected declaration of the results of the presidential elections at 5:00 p.m.
The EC explained that the measure was to ensure that the collection of results in the district and regional collection centers throughout the country was accurate.
In a press release issued Tuesday afternoon. [December 8, 2020], the EC said it will extend its planned timeline for declaring the results of the 2020 presidential elections.
“The new timeline will be announced shortly.” He said.

As such, to ensure that the declared presidential results are 100% accurate and reflect the will of the people, the Commission urges the public and all stakeholders to be patient as the compilation process continues in the presence of agents from political parties and election observers. “
“The Commission thanks all registered voters who turned out to vote on December 7, 2020, and reminds the public that it remains the only legally authorized body that can declare the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana.”

NDC supporters
Meanwhile, dozens of supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have started to flow to the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), where the EC intends to make the statement, it reports. Isaac Yeboah.
Some had initially gathered near the EC headquarters, where a strong military and police presence is felt at the gates.
At the Conference Center itself, armed soldiers have blocked the entrance through the center and the front of the House of Parliament and are diverting traffic.
