A 50-year-old man was struck by a motorcyclist on Monday while returning from a polling station in the Nkoranza Sur constituency of the Eastern Bono Region.

Mr. Yaw Antwi died upon arrival at Nkoranza St Theresa Hospital.

The GNA learned that the deceased was returning from the voting station of the Nkoranza Community Center after verifying his name in the voter registry when the incident occurred around 10:45 a.m.

Election officials at the voting station confirmed to the GNA that the deceased arrived at the center, verified his details in the registry, but did not wait a while and voted.

The deceased, according to election officials, promised to return to vote later because he had an urgent matter to attend to.

When the GNA contacted Ms. Diana Ataa-Kisiwaa, Nkoranza’s municipal chief executive, who also voted in the same center, she described the incident as “very sad and regrettable” and expressed her condolences to the grieving family.
