The bodyguard of the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, identified as Mr. Tahiru Bombi Bakari, has finally cast his vote in the current presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr. Bakari, according to a statement issued by the Ghana Election Commission (EC), voted at the polling station of the district office in the Bole-Bamboi constituency.

Mr. Mahama’s bodyguard was previously stranded when EC officials at the district office polling station in the Bole-Bamboi constituency that his name was not on the voter register.

Bakari had gone to the electoral college to exercise his right to vote in the company of his boss, Mr. John Dramani Mahama.

Mr. Mahama, who broke the news of the unfortunate incident to journalists during an interview moments after casting his vote, expressed concern about the situation. A woman’s name was also missing from the voter registry.

“The name of one of my security men is not on the voter registry. He registered with me at the same polling station here in Bole Bamboi. His name was on the voter roll when we crossed during the voter roll display exercise, but today his name is not on the voter roll, ”he complained.

However, the EC said that Mr. Bakari brought the mess himself after failing to provide his voter identification card, making it very difficult for EC officials to trace his name in the voter registry.
