Inmates of Akuse prisons in the eastern Lower Manya Krobo have been voting in Monday’s presidential and parliamentary elections, where they have the opportunity, like any other Ghanaian, to vote in a country where incarcerated people also have the right. to vote.

The official who presides over the first voting center inside the prison yard, Barbara Buadu, said that the 122 inmates, all male, are among the 212 registered voters who are voting today at the voting center for prison inmates. of Akuse in Akuse.

The voting center is divided into two parts with one group of election officials stationed in the prison yard and the other, located in front of the courtyard where members of the general public are currently voting.

The presiding officer of the off-court polling station, Mitsugah Sylvester Atsugah, revealed that 27 people had voted outside the yard at 3 pm.

In addition to having the opportunity to decide who will lead this country as president for the next four years, the inmates are also deciding who represents the constituency in the august house of Parliament.
