Residents of the Bimbagu South electoral area in the Bunkprugu / Nakpanduri constituency of the northeast region have boycotted the 2020 general elections.

A visit to some of the polling stations in the area by JoyNews correspondent Eliasu Tanko showed inactive election officials with no constituency to attend to.

However, residents are seen around the polling station performing their normal duties.

According to residents, their reason for boycotting this year’s elections is that successive governments have bypassed the area in terms of development projects.

Residents also complained of poor roads, lack of clean water, inadequate educational infrastructure, and lack of access to medical care.

In October, the resident as a group held a press conference in which they revealed that they would not participate in this year’s elections after describing their problems.

True to their word, the electorates have abstained from today’s electoral process on December 7, 2020.
