Asawase constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak has allowed his six-year-old daughter to fingerprint her votes in the current general election.

“If you see her, she’s only six years old, she doesn’t even understand what’s going on,” the minority leader told Accra-based Citi FM after casting his votes.

“I raised his thumb and made the thumb impression; it was practically me who did it, “he added.

However, the legislator’s action was met with contempt on social media and Ghanaians called for his arrest.

Ghanaians vote today [Monday], December 7, 2020, to elect a president and 275 legislators to represent them in parliament.

More than 17 million voters are expected to participate in the exercise after enduring a challenging year due to the raging coronavirus pandemic.

The main candidates in the polls are current president Nana Akufo-Addo, of the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP), and the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.

Meanwhile, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on Ghanaians to be peaceful in the current general elections.

Speaking after voting at Kperiga D / A Primary School in the Northeast Region’s Walewale constituency, Bawumia said: “This is a very important civic exercise that we must conduct peacefully.”

In a previous,YEN.com.gh report, a person was arrested in the western region in connection with the general elections underway across the country.

The arrest, which occurred in Whindo in Effia-Kwesimintsim Township, followed attempts by some residents to prevent election officials from accessing voting centers in the community, the state-owned Daily Graphic reported.
