The Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG) has begun the process of expanding its activities for the December 7 elections.
After successfully facilitating a historic signing ceremony of the Peace Pact for the Third Presidential Election on Friday, December 4, IDEG will reactivate its electoral situation rooms throughout the country as of Sunday, December 6, 2020 and will deploy in more than 100 electoral districts 700 electoral observers.
The observers who have already been trained by the Electoral Commission and IDEG’s training faculty are in good spirits and well prepared to enter the field and view the elections with the eyes of an eagle.
The nerve center of IDEG’s electoral observation activities is the Electoral Situation Room, which gathers, filters, analyzes and disseminates vital information on the main events of the elections in the country.
The Situation Rooms that have been located in the capitals of the ten ancient regions of Ghana are connected by various lines of communication to the Situation Room of the National Elections based at IDEG House, East Legon in Accra.
With the general objective of promoting credible and peaceful elections, IDEG’s situation rooms are open to other electoral stakeholders.
National and international election observers, representatives of the media, security agencies and the general public can visit and share information.
