The club could not risk contagion at its training facilities.
The coronavirus blockade and the suspension of soccer in Spain trapped many players in a period of recovery from injuries. That has complicated things when it comes to working from home in your rehab.
One of the affected players was Ousmane Dembele, who was ruled out for six months in February after undergoing surgery on a broken tendon, prompting Barcelona to sign Martin Braithwaite as his replacement.
Dembele has been following his recovery work at home, but now, back in Barcelona, he hopes to be able to do it at the club’s training ground.
For that reason, on Monday, he was tested for coronavirus to see if he is carrying the virus. Unlike his teammates, who took tests at training camp last week, the France star was tested at home, RAC1 revealed.
The reason for this was to avoid any risk of contagion in the training field, since the rest of the Barça team has returned to training since Friday.
If the test is negative, Dembele will be allowed to arrive at Ciutat Esportiva in the next few days to continue his recovery.
Remember that the attacker will not be able to play in La Liga again this season, even if he fully recovers. He was decommissioned to accommodate Braithwaite.
