The Central Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service arrested three armed men at a hotel in Ajumako-Essiam.
According to the police, the arrest was due to the information collected.
The suspects were found carrying pistols loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
They also possessed military camouflage dresses, desert boots, three handcuffs, a knife, a hood, masks, bullets, a black silencer, and three plastic bulletproof vests.
Addressing journalists in Cape Coast, Central Regional Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Oppong, said: “Following a search of the suspects’ room, a handgun was found, which was registered to a certain Dr. to establish the identity of that person [or] the owner of the gun.
“We also found a military camouflage, we also found handcuffs, three of them and a razor, and they are all in the custody of the police and investigations are ongoing.”
The name of the main suspect was Raymond Quarshie, who along with the other two accomplices, checked into a hotel in Ajumako on Wednesday, December 2, around 11:00 pm.
They were found in room 124 after police followed up on intelligence.
“We want to assure the people of Ajumako that the police are vigilant in that area and our security officers are also doing their job to find out about any incident that is about to occur to prevent it.
“We want to assure you that on election day there is no cause for alarm. They should go out to exercise their right, which is to vote and we are prepared as security agents to protect them.
